Gary Carl joins the KC Glory bringing a wide variety of football experience. He has coached at multiple levels of football over the last 21 years.
Coach Carl got his start at the young age of 19, coaching offensive and defensive line for Des Moines Roosevelt High School feeder program. After only a year, he was quickly promoted to Defensive Coordinator of the freshman team. In 2007, after graduating from college, he moved back to Kansas City to begin teaching and coaching for the Grandview C-4 School district. After an undefeated year coaching defense for Grandview Middle School, he became a Graduate Assistant at Avila University, coaching Defensive Line in the spring and Linebackers in the fall. He then went back to become the head coach of the Grandview Middle School football team for 2 seasons before taking over as Running Backs Coach/JV Head Coach at his alma mater, Grandview High School. He also spent a year at both KC Central (Interim DC), and Ruskin High School (JV Head Coach). It was at that point he decided to cross state lines again and head to Kansas. He spent the next 8 years at Shawnee Mission East High School in various roles on the football staff, with the last 5 being the Defensive Line coach, and the final 2 as Co-Defensive Coordinator. He is currently coaching defensive line at Olathe East High School.
